Fluttering with Beauty
Here are just a few facts about butterflies. Did you know that
butterflies need the warmth of the sun to enable them to fly?
Yep, they do, because they are cold-blooded and will not fly if
the temperature is below 50 degrees. Also did you know that a
butterflies wings were actually made up of colored scales? And,
if you touch a butterfly the color will rub off on your finger.
They also taste with their feet! Their feet are actually like
tiny sponges which allow them to "taste" the food that
they are standing on. Oh and butterflies do not have mouths either.
So how do they eat? Well they have something called a proboscis.
What is it, well it's basically a straw that is in place where
the mouth should be. They use this "straw" to drink
nectar and juices. When they are not eating the "straw"
remains coiled like a garden hose. These are just a few fun and
interesting facts for you to think of while enjoying Butterfly
coloring sheets.

for they come in blue, orange, red, yellow, brown, black, gray,
white, purple even pink; just about any color you can think of!

they like color. But the truth is that they are actually drinking
the nectar from the flower. You see they don't eat food like you
do, but rely on the sweet nectar to keep them full and flying
high in the sky with other butterflies, birds and bees - all fluttering
around the yard and the trees.
