the day as the day Jesus was born thousands of years ago. You

Let the Holiday Celebration Begin
In many countries, children leave gifts for Santa Claus. Santa
Claus is a jolly, round bellied man who wears a red suit with
white fur trim and has a long white beard. On Christmas Eve he
rides in his sleigh lifted to the sky by his reindeer and flies
from house to house delivering presents for good little boys and
girls. For all Santa's hard work we leave him gifts such as milk,
cookies or fruit. And, beside this, children leave small containers
for Santa to fill for them with toys and candy. You may hang a
stocking above the fireplace for Santa to fill. In Germany, children
leave out shoes for Santa to fill.
In France, they celebrate Christmas with a visit from Père
Noël (like Santa Claus). In other countries, Santa makes
his trip from the North Pole with reindeers and someone named
Knecht Riprecht, or Black Peter. In Spain, gifts are brought by
the Magi at Epiphany on Jan. 6 and not on Dec. 25, while in the
Netherlands, Christmas is more of a religious holiday and gifts
are not exchanged at all.
As you look forward to celebrating Christmas this year, how about
considering leaving Santa a special present, one you made all
your own. For, regardless if you've been naughty or nice, a coloring
book picture that you did on your own is sure to impress Old St.
Nick. You can use free coloring pages and coloring pictures by
printing out Free Coloring Pages for kids. But make sure to print
out extras for you will want to leave one for Santa and his reindeer.
And you can make one for your mom and dad as a gift or set a few
aside to use as wrapping paper.
